Our Health and Wellness programs provide our community with options to improve their physical, mental, and emotional well-being. In partnership with the African American Health Program (AAHP), we strive to keep our community informed of important health issues.
Since 1999, the African American Health Program has been providing essential healthcare services to residents of Montgomery County. They equip county residents with tools, resources, and knowledge to help them adopt health lifestyles.
LWAAAC in cooperation with AAHP provides free health screening once a month prior to the monthly membership meeting. AAHP staff are available to provide health screenings for Blood Pressure, Blood Glucose, Cholesterol, A1C, BMI, Weight and HIV. In addition, they assist residents in monitoring these vital health areas to support a healthier lifestyle.

Diabetes is a disease in which blood glucose levels are above normal. The body of someone diagnosed with diabetes makes too little insulin or cannot use its own insulin as well as it should, causing sugar to build up in the blood.
Cancer is the second-leading cause of death in the U.S. African Americans/Blacks have the highest death rate and shortest survival rate of any racial and ethnic group for most cancers.
According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Minority Health, African Americans are 20% more likely to experience serious mental health problems than the general population.
The LWAAAC Drum Circle will host this spirited program that will educate, enlighten, and inspire as we embrace the seven principles of life filled with words of intention, movement, and music.
