The LWAAAC Drum Circle will host this spirited program that will educate, enlighten, and inspire as we embrace the seven principles of life filled with words of intention, movement, and music.

A tribute to LWAAAC Veterans 

The LWAAAC Men's Fellowship moderated a tribute to our own LWAAAC veterans. The program included a presentation of notable African American soldiers of the past, and a panel discussions on the impact of military service on the lives of our members. 

Mazel Pernell -  The Itchy Feet Traveler 

Like many of us who were raised by Depression-era African American parents, Mazel Pernell had access to more love than money; that’s just the way it was.  She speaks about growing up in a small house with a big family on a farm owned by somebody else.  

A little goes a long way

Through your generosity you can make a big difference in the lives of your neighbors . The Leisure World community is a microcosm of our world with some of our neighbors needing help from time to time.  Donations are collected at our monthly membership meetings. 

Become a Grand Reader

Grand Reader volunteers are needed to assist students at Bel Pre E.S

The Grand Readers Program allows grandparents or senior citizens to come into elementary or middle schools to read to students, work on their literacy, and assist them with reading assignments and after school programs.

Strathmore E.S. Needs Volunteers 

The Community Service Committee has joined with the Leisure World New Yorkers & Friends organization as volunteers to the Strathmore Elementary School on Beaverbrook Rd.  Our volunteers are serving as Recess Door Monitors, which is a continuous need throughout the school year.

Healthy Alternatives

AAHP Health and Nutrition Class is held 2ndThursday. An Instructor is available to provide this hybrid class(in-person and via zoom), on various health topics. Learn new recipes and how to support a healthy lifestyle.
