What Every Senior Should Know
Artificial Intelligence (AI) may sound like science fiction, but it is rapidly becoming a regular part of daily life—even for those of us over the age of 55.
Read our own Men's Fellowship member Robert Yates' insightful article on AI.
Ruby Ricks
95 and not slowing down
LWAAAC is blessed and grateful to be able to embrace a number of nonagenarians. Among them is the remarkable Ruby Ricks, a former Sunday school teacher. She's a tiny lady, with a playful sense of humor. When asked, for example, if she could meet in a week for the interview for this profile, her answer was "If I'm still here."

IN IT TO WIN IT
LWAAAC Men are encouraged to participation in a meaningful community dialogue focused on the health of Black men. This crucial event is part of the transformative African American Health Program initiative, "In It To Win It."
Dr. Hakim Rashid
New and welcome to the community
Hakim Rashid is one of our community's newer members; he has lived in Mutual 23, Vantage Point West, for only nine months. He is a member of LWAAAC and an active member of the Men's Fellowship. He tends to be rather low-key, but you'll discover a lot of substance when you dig deeper.
Become a Grand Reader
Grand Reader volunteers are needed to assist students at Bel Pre E.S. The Grand Readers Program allows grandparents or senior citizens to come into elementary or middle schools to read to students, work on their literacy, and assist them with reading assignments and after school programs.
Strathmore E.S. Needs Volunteers
The Community Service Committee has joined with the Leisure World New Yorkers & Friends organization as volunteers to the Strathmore Elementary School on Beaverbrook Rd. Our volunteers are serving as Recess Door Monitors, which is a continuous need throughout the school year.
