Josiah Henson: The Man and the Myth
The Edmonson Historical Society will kick off Black History Month with the program Josiah Henson: The Man and the Myth. This unique perspective on the social forces that shaped his life and influenced how we view history will be presented in the Clubhouse II auditorium on Tuesday, February 3, at 1:30 p.m.
Join us as Diana Klein, Cultural Resources Programs Manager for Montgomery Parks and former Education Program Manager at the Josiah Henson Museum and Park in North Bethesda, takes us through the life story of Josiah Henson, including his abolitionist work, his Underground Railroad activities, and the time of his enslavement, which inspired Harriet Beecher Stowe’s novel Uncle Tom’s Cabin. An opportunity to join the Edmonson Historical Society and to vote on the slate of officers will be provided.
